Mentoring

Productive to the Max has helped organizations use the Mentoring process to nurture and grow their people and to clarify career paths and goals. Some of the key benefits to the organization include decreased employee turnover, improved morale and sense of ‘belonging’, balanced alignment of corporate values and personal goals, and greater overall job satisfaction.

In addition to our corporate clients, we frequently work with individuals who recognize the need to question, analyse and clarify career and personal goals.

Mentoring can be a one-on-one process or it can involve a number of individuals in a mentoring/peer learning group with the objective of setting and facilitating clearly-defined goals and recognition of the principles of continuous learning.

In group situations, the optimum number is 6 to 10 “like-minded” participants. Group mentoring can be a cost effective solution for those on a smaller budget. Many people find they benefit from the synergy that develops amongst the participants, often creating improved relationships and networks.

As in the coaching process, the Mentoring process is based on establishment of a strong ‘trust factor’ between the parties involved. That safe, confidential environment is critical to the success of any mentoring program.

Mentoring draws extensively on the coaching and communication skills of the Mentor and it involves a number of other significant functions:

  • Sharing of experience (both the positive and the negative)
  • Consulting and advising on new courses of action
  • Making introductions to influential or knowledgeable individuals in the relevant industry or within
    the organization
  • Promotion of the concept and understanding of
    continuous learning
  • Recommendation of training opportunities relevant to advancing the goals of the mentee
  • Support and advocating on behalf of the mentee in pursuit of his/her growth and development
